Email Address
I got my first email address when I was in the fourth grade. As you may remember if you have been reading my blog since day one, my family adopted Zuzu when I was in the fourth grade as well. So, it only made sense for me to name my email address after my new puppy. So, for about eight years, I used the very cool email address of zuzudogpal@yahoo.com. It didn't matter too much, because I mainly used my school email for academics and facebook messaging for social things. However, it did cause me some embarrassment when I had to give out that email for signups and newsletters and such. Eventually, I had to give out my email address for work purposes, and decided that having an email named after a dog was not only embarrassing, it was unprofessional. I got a new email address that is much more practical and boring. I still have my zuzudogpal account, but I don't check it very often.

My last email address was limeyfoe@sover.net. Limeyfoe is the name of my stuffed frog. I got him when I was eight and I named him limeyfoe because he was lime green and stuffed with foam. Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense, but heck, I was eight! I finally got rid of the email because, like you, it was just too embarrassing to explain. But I never got rid of limeyfoe. I sleep with him every night.
ReplyDeleteMany of my friends have stories like this of embarrassing emails, but my mother wouldn't let me have my own email until my school required me to have one in 8th grade, which is when I created my current account, which is just an endearing family nickname and my DOB. Not embarrassing, but not overly original either.
ReplyDeleteMy first email was stuntjusti@yahoo.com and I used it for around six years until I finally decided I needed something a little more professional... six months ago :P
ReplyDeleteI just cannot make myself give up my email: vtmens@yahoo.com. It has nothing to do with men or bad grammar. It's VT-ME-NS: Vermont, Maine, Nova Scotia. I had decided when I was 18 or 19 that that was my trajectory: I was moving to Vermont, Maine would be next, and then I would retire in Nova Scotia. They are still my favorite places, so I guess that's why I keep it. It's not THAT bad . . right??
ReplyDeleteTracy, whenever I see your email I always think of "vitamins."
DeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteI still have my first email: astimegoesby90@gmail.com.....after my obsessive love for Casablanca.... I refuse to change it. But I do have my big girl email for you know...work things ha ha
